TERMS & CONDITIONS
Contract
When you submit a booking via our online reservation system you will receive an automatically generated booking summary by email to the email address you provide in the booking form. This does not form a contract between us. A contract shall only arise when your booking is subsequently confirmed in writing via a letter of confirmation sent to you by post or email.
Timing
Periods of let normally start from 4 p.m. on Saturdays and expire at 10 a.m. on the last Saturday of the period let. Short breaks are possible by arrangement; this may be difficult during peak times although we will try to assist you whenever possible.
(Please notify the office if you intend to arrive after 7pm).
Confirming your reservation
A reservation is regarded as binding only when:
(a) confirmed to the proprietors by email, phone or in writing.
(b) the required deposit of 25% per week per chalet is paid.
(c) written or email acknowledgement thereof is dispatched by the proprietors.
Booking your Holiday
To book a property, use the online secure booking facility or alternatively we will hold provisional booking for up to seven days until we receive your payment for deposit. You may also book by phone 0044(0)7734833988 or if no reply from this number 0044 (0)1360660008
Deposit
The initial payment is 25% of the total hire charge and may be paid by cheque (payable to Craigs Lodges Ltd), cash, credit card Mastercard, Visa, Solo Maestro and Delta. Debit cards have no surcharge.
To assist visitors from overseas we will also accept Swift payment (international bank transfer). Any bank charges incurred will be payable by the hirer. Please phone 0044 (0)7734833988 or email for details.
Payment for your holiday
The balance of the rental price must be paid in full to the proprietors six weeks before arrival.
The Lessor may treat the booking as cancelled if the balance of the hire charge is not sent by this date.
Alterations and Cancellations
Where you wish to alter your booking (ie. lodge or dates or holiday duration) we will do our best to accommodate your request. If we cannot meet your altered requirements and you wish to cancel your holiday then the following terms apply
Cancellation more than 56 days prior to arrival, we refund 75% of the total holiday cost. Cancellation between 28 & 55 days prior to arrival, we refund 50% of the total holiday cost. Cancellation less than 28 days prior to arrival, full charge applies
Alterations and Cancellations by us: It is highly unlikely that the chosen property would not be available but this could happen if, for example, there was a serious technical problem, fire or some other unforeseen calamity. In such a case our liability is limited to the provision of another property of similar or higher category or if these are not available a full refund of the rental.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Refunds do not apply to circumstances beyond our control. We can cancel your holiday arrangement in the following circumstances: war, threat of war, riots, civil strikes or terrorist activity, industrial disputes, natural or nuclear disasters, fire, airport closures, bad weather conditions and similar events beyond our control.
We strongly recommend you invest in holiday cancellation insurance to cover these events.
Good Housekeeping Charge
One or two lodges have not been left in a good condition by previous hirers. This unfortunately means we now reserve the right to levy an additional charge of up to £100 should your lodge be left in an untidy condition.
Clients are asked to leave their accommodation and its contents clean and tidy when vacating. Turn round times of the lodges are quite short on Saturdays and lodges left in poor condition make the task very much more difficult. Over and above dirt, other items such as fat left in pots and pans or unknown breakages are very time-consuming to fix. All damages or breakages of the fittings, utensils, crockery or cutlery should be reported to Solly on 07734 833988 and will have to be charged for.
Equipment
Each property is furnished and equipped to cater for the stated permitted occupancy and includes pots and pans, crockery, cutlery, iron and ironing board.
Linen
All properties are supplied with pillows, (two per person) duvets and bed linen. Towels are not included in the price, but may be hired from us at £5 per set.
Cots
Cots may be hired at £15 per week.
Dogs
Dogs are by prior arrangement only, and must not be allowed on furniture or in bedrooms, must not be left unattended, and must be kept under strict control. Guests must clean up after their dogs (poop scoops are available at the reception)
A charge of £20 per pet will be incurred.
Smoking
Smoking is not allowed in any part of the lodges. We have provided safe sand receptacles outside for all our guests. Please do not leave cigarette butts lying on the ground beside the lodge, they look unsightly and we are concerned about the fire risk they present.
Laundry facilities
We have a laundry room on site for your convenience
Disabled access
We have one lodge modified for ambulant disabled. Please let us know well in advance if this is the lodge you would prefer.
Green issues
Our rubbish collection is not the most advanced system but we do have one large communal bin.
The bottles can be separated and taken to Sainsbury’s or Tesco’s’s supermarkets, in the centre of Linlithgow, where they have bottle bins.
