WELCOME TO THE AREA

Central Scotland offers something for everyone.

Entertainment,  in all its forms is nearby.

We have magnificent scenery, walking, mountaineering, cycling, golfing and fishing. We enjoy film, art, music and book festivals in Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as museums, castles and historic sites all around,  or you can simply relax and enjoy the tranquility of the natural setting of our cottages with perhaps a visit to one of the numerous good restaurants and cafes nearby.

We have links to many of these venues and good ideas in the “things to do” section.

The City of Edinburgh, known as “The Athens of the North”, is renowned for its beauty and is only 23 minutes by train to the City centre from Linlithgow. The castle dominates the City from high on its rocky perch where it surveys the cobbled streets and winding alleys below that form the City’s heart. The city is also renowned around the world for its Summer arts festival, Military Tattoo and New Year Hogmanay festival. Whatever time of year you visit you’ll be impressed by Edinburgh’s beauty.

Linlithgow is a small picturesque town of around 12,000 inhabitants. Its small size belies its status in Scottish history, as one time capital of Scotland it houses the imposing ruin of Linlithgow Royal Palace, past home of many of Scotland’s Kings and Queens.

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs offers stunning scenery and all the outdoor activities you could dream of during a Scottish holiday.

ALBA HOLIDAY COTTAGES

Are mostly close to Edinburgh with Campsie View closer to Loch Lomond. All are a short colourful drive  to the entertainment and scenery  shown on this site. You can sit in your cottage and just enjoy the abundance of wildlife flying and walking around in total natural freedom or venture out and enjoy all the reasons we love to live here.
